| Description | An assessment of the preserved timbers, assumed to be from the Saxon watermill structure at Old Windsor, held by Reading Museum. The preserved timbers represent only a small proportion of the waterlogged timbers revealed during the excavations in the 1950s. It is unknown if other waterlogged wood was left in situ, was excavated and discarded, or is still in existence at an unknown location. The assessment concluded that there was no evidence from the assemblage to contradict the interpretation that the material was derived from a Saxon watermill structure. |
