Abstract: This paper discusses the Portable Antiquities of the Netherlands (PAN) scheme, which is a voluntary scheme to report metal-detected finds in the Netherlands. It provides an overview of the scheme as well as a typology of early medieval brooch types and preliminary interpretation of their distribution across the Dutch landscape.
