Abstract: Reports on the excavation of two cemeteries (Beckford `A' and `B'), undertaken in 1954 and 1958 respectively. Grave goods (including spears, shields, brooches, and beads) indicate that both cemeteries were in use from the late fifth to mid sixth centuries. Only Saxon material was recovered, although occupation of BA to RB periods is attested in the vicinity and the distribution of the graves suggests that earlier tumuli were visible at the time and attracted the Anglo-Saxons to use the site. There are specialist contributions on: `Human burials' by Calvin Wells (41--62); `Textiles' by G Learmouth & Elizabeth Crowfoot (62--6); `Examination and analysis of glass beads' by M Heyworth (66--70); `Organic material associated with metalwork from cemeteries A and B' by Jacqui Watson & Glynis Edwards (70--4). The `Bibliography' is by Valerie Cooper (92--4).
