Abstract: A corpus of 500 objects which are considered to be stirrup-strap mounts of the Late Saxon period. Only a few have been published as many were obtained from a liaison with metal-detectorists -- finders had been invited to send objects for examination and a few, found in England, were received from abroad. Museum collections were also studied. The interpretation of these objects as stirrup fittings is thought to be confirmed.
