The need to reconcile the 14C dates with the stratigraphy suggested the sequence as: hearths of ultimate Meso date; enclosed homestead (the principal complex) of late 1st millennium bc; several centuries after abandonment, further (desultory) activities on a different focus. Only two of over twenty structures examined in the main complex have RB evidence, and some of the isolated structures could represent a 6th century ad occupation. Gwynedd has nearly 300 enclosed homesteads but only twelve have been explored; they appear indigenous pre-Roman sites, as do their associated ploughed terraces.

Finds made in 1937 have been re-examined: the large dugout has been 14C-dated to early 2nd millennium bc, perhaps the earliest British BA monoxylous coffin burial. The small dugout is dated some 500 years later and has Food Vessel in association. This barrow may represent the earliest settlement of Ceredigion.

The four previously recorded Group II Early Christian monuments were not in their original positions; however, a previously unrecorded undecorated stone was discovered in its original setting, possibly in association with long-cist graves. Portions of the well-preserved foundations and floors of the med church were uncovered below the Victorian building. One of two long-cist graves was 14C-dated to around late 9th century ad. Au (abr)

Plans and drawings of 1799-1841 increase the likelihood that the house incorporates part of the medieval west range of the abbey. Excavations in advance of road building revealed minor outdoor features.
