Abstract: [SP 045686]. Reports the excavation of the S transept of the Cistercian abbey church. The stratigraphical and structural sequence is discussed from the builders' levels of c 1140 1538; three main building periods have been demonstrated, c 1140, c 1200 and c 1300. Floors were repeatedly raised in response to severe flooding. Graves, including wooden and stone coffins, were examined and pottery, glass, metalwork, tiles (floor and roof) and carved stones are catalogued. An area by the N entrance was also examined and the Abbey earthworks surveyed. Au(abr)
