Abstract:
Between December 2007 and July 2008 AOC archaeology carried out a 4 phase archaeological program on site at 15 Woodbridge Street, Islington, in advance of the redevelopment of the site. The archaeological program comprised evaluation by trenching, Watching Briefs during the general ground reduction, and an area excavation. All deposits and features encountered during the phases of archaeological fieldwork are dated to the post-medieval period. The main period of occupation was between the 18th and 19th century. This included at least four construction phases which sealed a series of 17th century cut features that were probably associated with gravel quarrying activities.
