Abstract: |
AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Mr J Murray to undertake a basic historic building survey of two barns as part of the Wester Housebyres farmsteading prior to renovation as part of the planning condition on the development. The barns appear to be probably early 19th century in date, although a settlement at West Housebyres goes back as far as at least the 18th century. The two barns consist of a former threshing machine and cart shed respectively, with the threshing machine once powered by a water wheel to the east side, now gone, although remains of the fixings and bearing blocks remain. |
