Abstract: Border Archaeology undertook this archaeological desk-based assessment on behalf of Bristol Water to determine the nature of the archaeological resource within the vicinity of a proposed replacement water main pipeline, the route of which extends NW of Herd Lane (NGR ST 89940 93542) along the southern edge of the grounds of Tetbury Town F.C. up to Cirencester Road. The pipeline route then runs NE along the Cirencester Road and then turns sharply NW to enter fields to the N of Tetbury Industrial Estate (Northfield) crossing the London Road (A433) and continuing W through fields to the S and SW of Highfield Farm, crossing playing fields immediately N of Sir William Romney Secondary School before reaching a covered reservoir situated on the W side of Blind Lane (NGR ST 88949 94366). As at December 2011, the proposed methodology is open cut trenching of about 0.6 -1.0m width for a new 250 diameter main
