Abstract: |
A programme of historic building recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology (HFA), prior to the conversion and renovation of farm buildings at Parkside Farm, Northorpe, West Lindsey in Lincolnshire. The buildings, which had been partly demolished prior to survey, appeared to have been largely of built in the 20th century. However, a cart shed which retained in its north end some coursed limestone rubble walling, most probably dated to the mid-19th century, and an adjoining barn may have been of a similar date. The cart shed was the only extant building on the site that retained some coursed rubble stone walling - evidence of a vernacular tradition of farm building from the 18th and 19th centuries in the Lincolnshire Wolds. |
