Abstract:
An historic building record was required prior to demolition works taking place on the site of a former waukmill near Elgin. A steading complex, dwelling house, and U-shaped structure were recorded in detail. Part of the steading and the dwelling house occupy the footprint of a cottage and steading shown on late 19th century 1st Edition Ordnance Survey mapping, both of which have been subsequently altered and extended over the years. Dressed stone within the fabric of the steading and found incorporated into a revetment wall south of the cottage indicate that 19th century or earlier structural remains could yet be evident in the area. The remaining structures appear to be of 20th century origin.
