Abstract:		 PWP Architects, on behalf of Warner Leisure Hotels, commissioned Headland Archaeology to carry out a Historic Building Recording (HBR) survey of the 1938 wing of Studley Castle Hotel, near Studley in Warwickshire; as part of a wider archaeological mitigation strategy for the proposed re-development of the castle and grounds. The HBR survey was carried out in accordance with specific Level 4 standards from the Historic England document entitled Understanding Historic Buildings (2006). An interim report was produced in June 2016 which summarised the information gathered during the fieldwork and set out the work still to be completed, this was submitted to the planning authority to allow the demolition of the block. This document completes the building recording of the 1938 block. The fieldwork confirmed that the conversion of Studley Castle to a hotel in the late 20th century had resulted in physical changes to the layout of the 1938 wing and also the loss of some historic fabric. However it was possible to identify the original layout of the building when it was in use as accommodation for the Women's Agricultural College. The physical evidence allowed some conclusions to be drawn regarding the use of spaces within the building and documentary sources provided supplementary evidence.
