Abstract: |
GD II listed -Both number 1 and 2 Manor Farm Cottages are significant as an early example of a small cruck frame hall of four bays of 5 symmetrical crucks that is now two cottages. The building possibly originally dates to the 14th- 15th century two centuries before the larger Georgian manor house and farm that were built next door. The whole building 1 and 2 had modifications/ adaptations carried out in 1967, and a fire destroyed the whole of the thatch roof and possibly some mediaeval timbers in 1983. The 5 cruck frames survived. Repairs in 1984 saw further adaptations particularly to the roof and dormers. |
