Abstract: |
The former Bee's Knees public house, first known as the Derby Hotel, was built in about 1863 in the centre of Accrington, during the town's boom years, resulting from industrial growth. Plans submitted to the Local Board of Health show it contained a number of bar rooms, and what were probably letting rooms on the first floor, as well as stables, and a dwelling thought to have been for staff accommodation, at the lower end. It remained in its original use into the 21st century, but underwent extensive internal changes during recent years. |
