| Abstract: |
A survey was required on the site of a potential well to the west of Dunsapie Hillfort. The investigative works were undertaken by AOC Archaeology and students from the University of Edinburgh. Vegetation clearance around the remains of the well uncovered a rectangular in plan, single course of roughly faced wall, bound by poured concrete. Stretching 1.80 meters in width and 1.60 meters in length. The most northern end of the surviving remains was unfortunately not identified due to limited excavation authorisation and waterlogging from a nearby spring. Scrutiny of the surviving elements of the feature suggests that the site represents the location of a well or sheep dip, constructed over a natural spring, in the post-medieval period. |
