Abstract: |
Three evaluation trenches identified quarrying from the Late Saxon to medieval periods (11th-14th c.), with backfill of pits including a relatively high assemblage of pottery fragments. Also, evidence of buildings was present by way of a series of postholes (undated but probably Saxo-Norman). The site is close to Clare Castle, a Norman Motte and Bailey. |
