Earthwork survey, fieldwalking and EDM survey attempted to establish if there had been prehistoric copper mining at a known nineteenth-century mining site. Shallow surface working suggestive of an earlier date and rounded cobble stones with surface markings possibly representing tools for the purpose, had been observed. The evidence was eventually deemed inconclusive and no diagnostic dating material was recovered. `Appendix 1: Description of stone tool items' (19-20) and `Appendix 2: Glossary of mining terms' (21) complete the note.

Details bowl barrows at Linkinhorne including that which yielded the Rillaton gold cup, and Pelynt which contained a dagger of Mycenaean type, eighteen bell barrows, and three disc barrows.

A reassessment of ingots discovered twenty years ago, in the light of new scientific analyses. `Location and circumstances of discovery' by H L Douch (57-9) records four ingots found between February and September 1974 in the wake of severe gales and in what was subsequently diagnosed as a buried forest level. `Note and sketch section' by R D Penhallurick (60) is followed by brief details of `Radiocarbon dating' by R L Otlet (60-1) and `Archaeomagnetic dating' by A J Clark (61). `Tin ingot I' by P J Kay, B J Scott & L J Jones (62-3) provides a report from the International Tin Research Institute on one of the ingots and `Tin ingot II' by P J Kay, B J Scott & L J Jones (63-4) gives details of a second. `Scientific work II' by P G Harris (65-6) reports follow-up research on ingot II to determine whether crystals and `holes' in its composition resulted from iron-tin intermetallic compounds, cassiterite, or other materials. Appendix I provides `Descriptions of surfaces of ingots (a) and (b)' by R D Penhallurick (70).

Uses available records to reconstruct the excavations. The chapel is compared to that of St Ia (Troon), with its apparently unusual siting on the hilltop seen as indicating a possible lighthouse role. The function of the Monk's House is not confirmed. Finds, including human remains and tile, are recorded, along with `Pottery from Lammana: the mainland chapel and Monk's House' by Cathy O'Mahoney (115-24).

Reviews evidence for the garden, including previous plans and interpretations. Proposes a new, comprehensive interpretation.

Details the geography, history, churches, chapels, village layout, schools, field systems, mills, mines and quarries, drawing on documentary and other records, including the 1779 large-scale map and 1578 survey. Presents a tabulated check-list of known sites and features at the end of the article.

Notes the lack of existing detailed research on the Moor, principally due to its location outside the maximum extent of the Devensian glaciation which suggested a lack of suitable sediments/deposits, along with known tin mining and peat cutting activities thought to have destroyed evidence. However, recent work by the University of Plymouth (Dept Geographical Science) has recovered environmental data that will form the basis of a more detailed report in the near future.

Reports an underwater find of a large ground stone axehead. It may be fashioned from dolerite or chloromelanite which may, in turn, indicate direct trade with Brittany although there may also be sources in Cornwall. An asymmetrical aspect between its upper and lower surfaces may indicate deliberate styling for hafting and its asymmetrical blade may be designed for use on timber.

Reports investigations into the remaining farmhouse which revealed four principal phases of construction beginning with the medieval hall that formerly attached to a chapel that had formed part of the manor complex.

A brief note on the structure, condition, and future of the surviving barrows. On-going plough damage and planned road construction threaten the existing two barrows. They are constructed of turf stacks, probably cut from open heathland nearby, and an area of darker material in ploughsoil may indicate the existence of a third example.
