Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in May and June of 2008 on internal structural changes relating to the redevelopment of Capheaton Hall, Northumberland. The property is a Grade I listed building, constructed in 1668 close to the site of an earlier castle with a moat and drawbridge. It was designed by Robert Trollope for Sir John Swinburne. The wings were mid 18th century additions, and all works monitored by the watching brief were undertaken on the ground floor of the eastern wing. |
