We are excited to announce that Wikimedia UK has been awarded a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to safeguard access to the UK’s 3D heritage data and create a sustainable future.
The aim of the UK Heritage 3D Data at Risk Project is to address the over-reliance on commercial platforms for sustainable long term storage and dissemination of 3d data in UK heritage. This will be undertaken by developing practical guidance for UK heritage organisations of all sizes on best practice related to these themes.
To find out more watch this introductory video to the project on Youtube.
Staff from the ADS are serving on the Project Steering Group, providing expertise in 3D digitisation and preservation to help guide the project.
