The Archaeology Data Service has successfully secured funding through the PACE (Partnership for Academic and Commercial Engagement) initiative from the University of York. PACE funding is offered by University of York to support ambitious projects that are designed to drive long term income generation and positive commercial relationships with external partners.
The project, spearheaded by experts from the ADS, focuses on enhancing the role of the organisation as a premier digital archive for heritage and archaeological data in the UK. As the sole accredited digital archive service in England for heritage data, the ADS plays a pivotal role in the UK archaeology sector. By engaging with the market, fostering relationships, and enhancing client services, we aim for growth in our services, income and long term sustainability.

This PACE funded project aims to achieve this growth through three initiatives:
- Market Analysis & Cost Modelling. Market research will examine the existing client network before extending to new markets and exploring different cost models to improve financial efficiency.
- Relationship Development. Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders to encourage repeat depositors and expand the existing client base.
- Improving Client Services. Increase the in-house archiving capacity by recruiting new staff and developing training programmes and to enhance the depositor experience.
To facilitate this project we are planning on hiring several new positions here at the ADS. Keep an eye on the ADS News Pages for more information about these positions once they are posted.
