At the end of November, the ADS and the COST Action Saving European Archaeology from the Digital Dark Age (SEADDA) hosted the Linked Pasts Symposium at the University of York. This annual event brings together a diverse group of scholars, heritage professionals and other practitioners that share an interest in Linked Open Data as applied to the study of the ancient and historical world.
The Linked Pasts VIII Symposium is held over a two week period and includes a series of asynchronous activities that took place online ahead of the in person event, including a tutorial of the Peripleo geodata mapping software. Sessions at the in person event included a hackathon exploring the new Ariadne plus portal, an introduction to the Pelagios Network and Linked open data and historical people. The sessions were hybrid, allowing participants to attend either online or in person at the Kings Manor and the York Guildhall.
