Professor Dame Rosemary Cramp

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Professor Dame Rosemary Cramp, who has died at the age of 93.

Amongst her many roles in a life devoted to the service of British archaeology Rosemary was the founding Chair of the ADS Advisory Committee from 1996 to 2001, and was a great and influential friend in our formative years. On 15 Sept 1998 she presided over the launch of the first generation of ArchSearch, our first online catalogue of digital resources.

She continued to ask after the health of ADS throughout her life, most recently working with us on the digital version of the Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture. We look forward to releasing the digital catalogue later in 2023 as just one tribute to Rosemary and her lifetime’s work.
