We at the ADS are excited to announce that our Director, Professor Julian Richards, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year Honours List. Julian’s award was made in recognition of his services to Heritage and Digital Archiving.
Julian led the consortium of UK stakeholders that founded the ADS and has served as Director of the ADS since its inception back in 1996, as well as being the co-Director of the Internet Archaeology journal. In that time Julian has contributed significantly to pioneering digital data preservation and has led the ADS to become world leaders in this sphere.
On hearing about the award Professor Richards said:
“I am thrilled to receive this award, particularly as it recognises the importance of digital archiving”.
Congratulations to Julian from all here at the ADS.
