The ADS receives Archive Service Accreditation from the National Archives

Last November, we announced that the ADS was awarded Archive Service Accreditation via their assessor body in England, The National Archives. The ADS is the first ever digital-only archive service to receive this accreditation, which denotes that the repository ensures the long-term collection, preservation and accessibility of our archive heritage.

Last week the ADS were pleased to host David Morris, Head of Regions and Networks from The National Archives, at our offices in Kings Manor, who presented this new accreditation to ADS staff.

On receiving the accreditation last year, our Director Professor Julian Richards said:

“This is wonderful news. It reflects the hard work and robust processes put in place by our archivists.”

For more information about this important accreditation see The National Archives website. This is the latest in a series of assessment exercises undertaken by the ADS to evaluate our digital preservation infrastructure and have led to several certifications assigned to trustworthy data repositories.
