The ADS provides access to a variety of archival material, some of which may reflect the language and values of their period. As such, it may be possible to encounter material in the ADS archive that can be distressing, including collections containing insensitive or discriminatory views, outmoded or disrespectful terminology, or offensive imagery. 

The ADS continues to make these materials available for research in some cases preserving outmoded language where necessary to facilitate discovery and retrieval.
