DataCite
The ADS creates DOIs with DataCite through our membership of a consortium led by the British Library. DOI metadata can be searched within DataCite Commons, alongside records from other repositories that are part of the DataCite community such as Zenodo or Dryad.
How to find associated resources
When we register a DOI with DataCite, we pass on key metadata for that object including who created it, when it was created and what it relates to. This metadata is then searchable in DataCite Commons: a portal to the metadata catalogue associated with DOIs created by DataCite. You can search for DOIs associated with Works, People, Organisations and Repositories:
- Works – keyword search by title, creator, description, subject and by exact DOI (e.g. 10.5284/1030449)
- People – keyword search by name or using ORCID (e.g. https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3938-899X)
- Organisations – keyword search by name or using ROR ID (e.g. https://ror.org/04w1khd64)
- Repositories – keyword search by name including all repositories found in re3data.
The strength of the interface is the ability to research across these different outputs, people and organisations and explore the relationships and connections between them. DataCite Commons serves as a hub for exploring the vast landscape of research outputs and their creators, making it easier to navigate the complex web of scholarly communications. This web can additionally be programmatically accessed and analysed using the DataCite REST API.
