Accepted file formats
The ADS can only accept certain file formats for deposition. The table in our data requirements page lists both our preferred and accepted file formats by data type.
Preferred file formats are open stable formats suitable for preservation, however, they may need to be converted to a more accessible web format for dissemination.
Acceptable file formats may be sufficient for dissemination, but need work to convert into a preservation-suitable format and may need more extensive curation in the future.
The ADS is always reviewing our accepted data formats, however, and we are regularly approached about new file formats as technology and software advances. If your file format is not listed in the data requirements table please contact the Collections Team to discuss deposit options.
