Introduction
This following chapters aim to provide an overview of digitally archiving a number of commonly used file types that could be generated by almost any archaeological project. These chapters look at the types of digital archives that are commonly created as part of standard archaeological fieldwork and post-excavation processes and make recommendations about how these digital files should be archived. Although written primarily from the perspective of isolated file types, such files are commonly components of much larger project workflows involving numerous other techniques and, as such, these chapters only deal with file types at the simplest level and reference and link through to the later technique-based chapters where relevant.
