This page provides some additional guidance on completing in the metadata form for your database files. Detailed information on the specific requirements for each metadata field are available from the ‘i’ icons within the metadata form. Fields marked with an * are mandatory fields and must be entered otherwise the form cannot be submitted. Other fields are optional and should be completed where appropriate.

We ask that the information provided here is as accurate as possible as this information will form part of the metadata record for your file.

When depositing a database we ask that all files are accompanied by a database metadata template which documents all tables and fields AND an entity relationship diagram or model that records the relationships between tables.

The database metadata template can be downloaded from the ‘database structure’ section of the form. It can be uploaded in .xlsx, .ods, .xls, .csv, .txt, or .pdf format.

An entity relationship diagram should also be uploaded in .tif, .jpg , .png. .pdf, .doc, .docx or .odt formats.
